The Meaning of Pubs (2023)
In this project, Emma worked alongside fellow beer writer, Jessica Mason, to create a short film based on Jessica’s written piece of the same name, published in the Good Beer Yearbook.
Game On! (CAMRA, 2021)
In Game On! Emma explores pub games – both old and new – and speaks to pub operators, writers, and the people who play the games, capturing a snapshot of what kinds of entertainment people are enjoying in twenty-first century pubs. From the traditional (such as billiards and Toad In The Hole) to the ever popular (such as darts and quizzes), games are central to the British pub experience. Pubs also have an intimate relationship with many of our national sports – including football – and have always been places where people come to play.
Fermentation on Tour
(2020)
In Autumn 2020, Emma embarked on a journey (in her trusty motorhome!) around some of the UK’s best beer & cider producers to see how they were managing in the time of COVID-19. She visited three breweries – Anspach & Hobday, Beak Brewery & Cheshire Brewhouse – and one cider maker – Little Pomona.
The result is Fermentation on Tour, a series highlighting inspirational tales of creativity, innovation, and ultimately survival.
