Fermentation X Frockabilly International Women’s Day Reverbathon Special!

On Saturday 3rd March, the annual Radio Reverb fundraiser – Reverbathon – returned to the airwaves. Radio Reverb is a community radio station and, as such, relies heavily on donations to stay on air, independent and playlist-free. The Reverbathon features twelve hours of back-to-back specials, showcasing some of the varied programming that calls the station its home.

Radio Reverb had great support for its fundraising efforts from within its home town of Brighton and across the world – including a visit from the Mayor and a message of support from local MP, Caroline Lucas. By the end of the day over £2000 had been raised.

And, in honour of the occasion – and in recognition of International Women’s Day – Emma produced a very special, one-off – possibly ill-conceived – and never to be repeated Fermentation Beer & Brewing Show X Frockabilly Rockabilly Show collaboration mash-up! The show featured female-brewed beer and female-fronted rockabilly. Beer sommelier and drinks writer, Jane Peyton, joined Emma in the studio to talk a little about the history of women in beer, and to share some tastings, and we looked ahead to the International Women’s Collaboration Brew Day.

Many women have appeared on Fermentation Beer & Brewing Radio over the past two years, and this show provided an opportunity to revisit some of those voices. You can hear from some of them in these short pieces.

If you want to hear the whole show, you can do so via the Radio Reverb Mixcloud feed below. The show starts at around 1’20”.

And it’s never too late to donate! Please head to the Radio Reverb website and click on the ‘donate’ button to keep Fermentation Beer & Brewing Radio broadcasting on FM radio.
